Carl joined the group in 2023, as a PhD student supervised by Dr Flavia Mancini. He previously completed his BEng and MEng in information and bio-engineering at the University of Cambridge, part of which involved using fMRI to study changes in the neural representations of acute and chronic pain. His current research uses insights from control theory and computational neuroscience to understand the neural mechanisms involved in endogenous pain regulation, and he is also interested in the development of chronic pain, and the influence of neural circuits on the control and adaptation of biological systems.
